Onewheel tire pressure

Pressure is the cheapest tune on a Onewheel. Too soft and the board feels mushy and wears the tire unevenly; too hard and it skates over every crack.

1. Start from the tire and the maker

The maximum is molded into the sidewall — never go above it. Future Motion's support pages and the manual give a recommended range for each board. Start in the middle of it.

2. Tune for weight and terrain

  • Heavier rider, more pressure. A common habit is to start around a tenth of your body weight in pounds as PSI and adjust from there, staying inside the recommended range.
  • Carving on pavement: a little firmer for quick edge-to-edge response.
  • Trails and grass: a little softer for grip and float.
  • Change two PSI at a time and ride the same loop.

3. Check it often

Onewheel tires are small-volume and lose pressure quickly in heat. Check before a ride with a gauge — a small digital one fits the valve better than a gas-station gauge.

4. Signs it is wrong

  • The tire wears in a flat band in the middle: too hard for how you ride.
  • The board feels slow to turn and squirms: too soft.
  • Pressure drops within a day: a puncture or a valve leak.

When it is a bench job

A tire worn flat, a slow leak or a valve that will not seal. We change the tire on the hub, seat the bead, set the pressure for your weight and check the bearings while it is open.
